National 9/11 Flag: Display in Columbus on June 25th!

HandsOn Central Ohio, in partnership with the city of Columbus, will be hosting the National 9/11 Flag in Columbus on Saturday, June 25th.

As we approach the 10th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on American soil, it is essential for Columbus citizens to take time to remember, reflect and be empowered to get involved in disaster preparedness.

Destroyed in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks on September 11th and stitched back together seven years later by tornado survivors in Greensburg, Kansas, the National 9/11 Flag is a testament to the resilience and compassion of the American people.

HandsOn Central Ohio will be hosting the historic flag in Columbus on Saturday, June 25th with a ceremony at 11:00 a.m.-noon on the West Lawn of City Hall. The flag will be on display for the public from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Rain or winds over 10mph require the ceremony and display location to be the Columbus Metropolitan Library (96 S. Grant Ave., 43215).

The ceremony will include the following key speakers: Michael Coleman, Mayor of Columbus; Jack Reall, Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief and President of the Fire Union. HandsOn Central Ohio's President and CEO Marilee Chinnici-Zuercher will emcee the event. Please join us in remembering, celebrating and getting inspired to serve as a community.

The National 9/11 Flag is currently on a journey across American through this September. The goal is to display this historic flag at leading venues nationwide, inspiring 300 million Americans with the flag's rich visual history in order to deepen our sense of citizenship, national pride and bolster the spirit of volunteerism on the 9/11 anniversary and year round.

Join central Ohioians as we remember and reflect.
