Be the Change You Want to See in the World: Become a Volunteer Leader

Volunteer Leaders are the heart and soul of HandsOn Central Ohio’s Project Calendar program. Together, they lead Central Ohioans in one-time, high-impact volunteer projects that address critical needs in the community. Think of a Volunteer Leader as an ambassador— the point of contact between HandsOn Central Ohio, the host agency, and volunteers. They make sure the project runs smoothly and address any concerns that may arise. Responsibilities

· Arrive early at the project to set up and prepare sign-in process

· Monitor the sign-in process and return appropriate documentation to HandsOn Central Ohio

· Provide a welcome and closing message to volunteers at the project

· Assist partner agency staff in leading the project

· Serve as the point of contact for volunteers prior to the project

· Be an ambassador of HandsOn Central Ohio, able to proudly represent the organization and answer questions that arise

· Use HandsOn Central Ohio’s easy to learn technology

· Thank the volunteers!

Requirements

· Be at least 18 years of age

· Be interested in leading a HandsOn Central Ohio project

· Be passionate about making a difference in the community

· Attended at least 2 projects with HandsOn Central Ohio

· Schedule and attend a Volunteer Leader training by emailing Kate Potter, kpotter@handsoncentralohio.org

Additional Info

· All projects are scheduled on evenings and weekends

· Many projects recur on a regular basis, such as monthly or bi-weekly

· All projects are listed on HandsOn Central Ohio’s website

· Volunteer Leaders choose which projects they want to lead

· Estimated time commitment is 4-6 hours per month
