HandsOn Central Ohio, in partnership with the Franklin County Citizen Corps Council, hosted a Disaster Volunteer Recognition Reception to honor all disaster volunteers in Franklin County. HOCO celebrated 55 volunteers from various programs including Citizen Corps, Medical Reserve Corps, Community Emergency Response Team, Fire Corps, and Volunteers in Police Service. Our own Marilee Chinnici-Zuercher, President/CEO, welcomed the volunteers and Deputy Chief Richard Bash, Columbus Division of Police Homeland Security Subdivision, gave a moving speech highlighting the importance of preparedness and the crucial role of volunteers in preparedness and recovery efforts. Volunteers enjoyed delicious food, lots of fun, great company! It was a fabulous opportunity for volunteers to meet others in the field who have dedicated their time and resources to help recover their community should disaster strike. Thank you to the City of Columbus Division of Police, Franklin County Citizen Corps Council, and especially the volunteers for making this event a huge success.
