Franklin County Citizen Corps Public Meeting

No one knows when the next disaster will strike…

Get Ready. Prepare. Volunteer.

What if you were without power for days or, if in the blink of an eye, you were without shelter? Disasters can strike at any moment. What has your community done to prepare? How can you help in an emergency?

Join Us: Disaster Preparedness and Volunteer Response Public Meeting Sponsored by: Franklin County Citizen Corps

Date: Wednesday, September 9 Doors Open at 4:00 p.m.

Place: Columbus Public Health, 240 Parson Ave., Columbus, OH 43215

The Franklin County Citizen Corps Council engages community members in hometown preparedness through public education, training and volunteer service. Take Action: Learn what preparations our community has made for disasters and how you can become involved as a volunteer. The public meeting will include:

4:30 Welcome: Michael R. Pannell, Director Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security

4:45 Review of Preparations for H1N1 Outbreak and 2009 Flu season : Dr. Mysheika LeMaile Williams, Medical Director, Assistant Health Commissioner, Columbus Public Health

5:30 Review of the City of Columbus Evacuation Plan : Sharon Liebrecht, Columbus Police Dept.

6:00 Panel Discussion on Citizen Corps volunteer programs: Moderator, Marilee Chinnici-Zuercher, CEO, FIRSTLINK and Representatives from the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Fire Corps, Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) and Volunteer Reception Center
