Next week, March 22-28, has been declared Ohio Severe Weather Awareness Week by Governor Strickland. Ohio Emergency Management, Franklin County Emergency Management and the Disaster Preparedness Department of FIRSTLINK encourage everyone to be prepared for the severe weather that is common in Central Ohio during spring. Please use this reminder of Severe Weather Awareness Week to make sure that your 72-hour emergency kit is fully stocked and that supplies have not expired. Items to consider adding to your emergency kit might include:
- NOAA Weather Radio
- Local maps
- Hand-operated can opener
- Flashlights and extra batteries

Finally, as an important part of Ohio Severe Weather Awareness week, the statewide tornado drill will be taking place on Wednesday, March 24, at 9:50am. We would encourage you to check with your place of employment or your child’s school to find out if they are taking part in the statewide tornado drill.
