Spotlight: Terrell

Employee Spotlight

Terrell is a 2-1-1 specialist and has helped countless individuals in his time with HandsOn Central Ohio. We want to tell you a little about why Terrell enjoys his job, as well as introduce you to Terrell as a person. Being from Columbus and an Ohio State supporter, Terrell is the perfect person to be the first employee chosen for the Employee Spotlight, in our Spotlight Series.

Terrell is from Columbus, Ohio, and he loves it here.

He enjoys fishing, mostly for crappie, white bass and largemouth bass. Terrell is also an Ohio State sports supporter.

Terrell’s ideal vacation would be in the warm weather, soft sand and blue water of the Caribbean Islands.

Terrell enjoys eating at the Sunflower Chinese Restaurant & Lounge, China Bell and The Top Steakhouse in Bexley. Terrell said he likes all foods, but Chinese is probably his favorite.

The best advice given to Terrell is to “treat people like you want to be treated.”

Terrell was attracted to work for HandsOn Central Ohio because “it’s an opportunity to help people from the grassroots level.”

Terrell has worked with HandsOn Central Ohio for around one year. He started as a volunteer, and then became a part-time employee. In September of last year Terrell became a full-time employee of HandsOn Central Ohio.

The best part about Terrell’s job is “knowing that each day I touch somebody’s life. I know I have directed someone in a positive way to getting assistance.”

On how Terrell feels about helping people on a daily basis: “It’s empowering because you know you work hard, but it doesn’t feel like work because it’s real people with real needs. You may have done one little thing that might help them.”

Words of advice: “When you’re helping people in need, you have to think and make decisions outside the box. You have to be a visionary of understanding what things are and knowing what things can and could be.”

Thanks, Terrell! Check back soon for the next HandsOn Central Ohio Spotlight, which will feature the Ronald McDonald House!
