Spotlight: Christian

Employee Spotlight

Our second Employee Spotlight is on 2-1-1 specialist, Christian. Christian moved to Columbus because of a job opportunity, but is now working with HandsOn Central Ohio and helping people every day. Let’s give a little more insight on who Christian is, and why he is such an asset to HandsOn Central Ohio.

Christian moved to Columbus from Queens, New York. He also studied in New York at Stony Brook University, where he graduated with a degree in chemistry.

Christian likes to hike, play tennis and chess, and recently he started biking. Christian also plays trombone in the Clintonville Community Band.

Christian would like to go to Argentina because it is primarily a Spanish-speaking country, and although he does not dance, he also wants to learn about and understand Argentinean dance culture.

To try to learn from the mistakes of others and not from your own mistakes in life” is the best advice given to Christian.

Tomato-basil soup, salmon and salad, and especially cherry-cheese Danishes from Panera are some of Christian’s favorite foods.

He was attracted to HandsOn Central Ohio because he wanted to understand the community resources available to Franklin County. He was also interested for himself so he could be more involved.

Christian is fluent in Spanish, and enjoys using his bilingual skills at HandsOn Central Ohio. He also likes helping the community. “People see us as an avenue for opportunities. We can make a noticeable difference in their lives,” he said.

On helping people on a daily basis: “It certainly feels fulfilling. I’m grateful that I have the position to do that.”

Christian likes to learn about everything, which gives him the opportunity to discuss various topics with a variety of people. “I like to be a renaissance man – I like to be very well-rounded.”

Thank you, Christian! Check back soon for the next HandsOn Central Ohio Spotlight, which will feature CAP4Kids!
