HandsOn Central Ohio started over 30 years ago with a small group of volunteers and has grown into an organization with diverse programs connecting those in need with those who can provide resources. HandsOn Central Ohio also connects volunteers with our database of over 2,000 volunteer opportunities.
What is our goal?
Our goal is to strengthen and enhance the quality of life in the Central Ohio community by mobilizing volunteers and connecting people to critical community resources. HandsOn Central Ohio inspires, equips and mobilizes people to create meaningful change in their lives and in their community.
Need resources? HandsOn Central Ohio can help!
Our 2-1-1 call center can help you with any of your needs. Our comprehensive information and referral service will connect you to thousands of social service, government and community resources.
We know dental care is expensive.
Our Dental OPTIONS service connects you with volunteer clinics or dentists who dental care at reduced costs, or even free. This is a fantastic program that allows those who need dental care to get much-needed assistance at reasonable costs.
Everyone deserves a good meal.
Our FOODLINK program provides locations of food pantries and soup kitchens throughout Franklin County, where you can get meals, and even three-day supplies of food. Each caller’s needs are assessed individually, so we help everyone based on their own needs.
Need volunteers?
HandsOn Central Ohio not only helps those who want to volunteer, but also people and organizations that need volunteers. If you have a special event or volunteer opportunity, we can find people to help.
Disasters can strike at any moment. Be prepared.
The Franklin County Citizen Corps could always use more help in the hours after a disaster. We can train you, or you can join one of a handful of volunteer groups to be ready to help yourself and others during disasters. Groups include the Community Emergency Response Team, Fire Corps, Medical Reserve Corps, Neighborhood Watch Program, Volunteer Reception Center, Volunteers in Police Service and the Siren Watch Program.
We can train nonprofit organizations to maximize their efficiency.
HandsOn Central Ohio realizes the importance of a nonprofit sector in a community. Our non-profit capacity training includes grant writing, our volunteer management series, board strengthening and strategic planning.
Want to learn about what the community needs?
Our Beyond the Freeway tour gives a close look at the community. The tour focuses on poverty, hunger and homelessness, and visits local service providers such as homeless shelters, food pantries, the Boys & Girls Club of Columbus, and many other locations that provide insight to the community’s needs and services.
